Review For Shadow Dancer

The film relies on terse dialogue and boggy colors to create an atmosphere dense with anxiety -- all well handled by director James March.
Walter V. Addiego-San Francisco Chronicle

A respectable political/psychological suspenser, but not a wildly entertaining or enjoyable one.
Colin Covert-Minneapolis Star Tribune

A tautly minimalist, occasionally generic study of betrayal and family ties.
Ty Burr-Boston Globe

[Riseborough's] work is indrawn and riveting. It's hard to read the look in her eye, but we never stop trying.
Steven Rea-Philadelphia Inquirer

This British thriller by James Marsh is a little too neatly scripted and tightly edited for my taste, but there are galvanizing performances from Andrea Riseborough... and Clive Owen.
J. R. Jones-Chicago Reader

These are characters for whom true belief in a cause has probably become impossible; they know how much that costs. Marsh does a compelling job of illustrating that for the rest of us.
Bill Goodykoontz-Arizona Republic

A grim but measured and intelligent art-house slow-burner.
Dennis Schwartz-Ozus' World Movie Reviews

The acting in this film is very good. The plot is lean and powerful. It is pretty depressing, but it seems true enough in its depiction of this troubled period of history.
Robert Roten-Laramie Movie Scope

By the end, the film shows not only the power of this influence but also its terrible price in an often merciless conflict.
Jared Eisenstat-Film Comment Magazine

Despite solid performances, a slow first half takes away from this otherwise effective drama about an IRA sympathizer whose life becomes more complicated after she's coerced into spying for MI-5.
James Plath-Movie Metropolis

It's absorbing, intelligent and sad.
Chris Hewitt (St. Paul)-St. Paul Pioneer Press

Themes ripped from today's headlines lend "The Troubles" of Northern Ireland very tense, sobering, contemporary immediacy. . . Riseborough [is] mesmerizing at first sight.
Nora Lee Mandel-Film-Forward.com

[Director James Marsh] shows a deft hand with his actors and elicits a notable performance from [Andrea] Riseborough. The production is straightforward on all fronts and catches the bleakness hovering above Belfast under siege.
Robin Clifford-Reeling Reviews

Marsh focuses this slowly simmering drama on more universal themes of family, betrayal and decisions that people make that are both right and wrong at the same time.
Christine N. Ziemba-Paste Magazine

a potent, ultimately disheartening slow-burn drama
James Kendrick-Q Network Film Desk

So many situations and plot points seem too sketchy here, but the two main characters manage to intrigue us, thanks to Andrea Riseborough and Clive Owen.
Betty Jo Tucker-ReelTalk Movie Reviews

...a quietly disturbing look at the choices placed before someone who is caught between two worlds, neither offering harbor.
Laura Clifford-Reeling Reviews

Shadow Dancer is a quiet film that demands careful attention...
Leonard Maltin-Leonard Maltin's Picks

By keeping politics in the background and emphasizing more than a few tenuous relationships, he allows the conflict, mistrust, and dishonesty in both Collette's and Mac's camps to come through without taking sides.

Byzantium

Review For Byzantium

Jordan is no stranger to the yearnings of vampires. He directed Interview With the Vampire. But Byzantium is a kinder, gentler yet pretty durn bloody affair.
Lisa Kennedy-Denver Post

Go ahead, bite.
Tom Long-Detroit News

A drama that feels both strenuously earnest and impossible to take seriously.
Liam Lacey-Globe and Mail

Byzantium has a few moves that might surprise you. They have nothing to do with blood, but everything to do with the heart.
Michael O'Sullivan-Washington Post

A confusing yet eye-pleasing tale that struggles to breathe new life into the well-worn mythology.
Linda Barnard-Toronto Star

Neil Jordan's sensitive and very slow exploration of vampire angst. That the film also seems intended as some kind of vampire feminist statement makes it a rare combination of mildly boring and mildly hilarious.
Mick LaSalle-San Francisco Chronicle

As the feature jumps backwards and forwards in time, and stories within stories coalesce, a striking tapestry is woven illustrating a world where eternal beings struggle with great change. Jordan's vampiric universe is bloody, adult, and melancholy.
Richard Haridy-Quickflix

Clara becomes more the subject of Jordan's empathy than the object of his lust (although there's some of that, too).
Max Nelson-Film Comment Magazine

It's stylish and gory, with excellent performances and a similarly grim approach to the life of a vampire. And it's not really a scary movie, although, whatever it is, it's a good one.
Rob Thomas-Madison Movie

A gory Gothic thriller whose departures from traditional horror lore give the overworked vampire genre a rejuvenating transfusion of new blood.
Jason Best-Movie Talk

There might be some sort of muddled feminist moral to all this, but by the time the overlong Gothic happenings conclude (with a nicely bloody finale), it's hard to recall what it might have been.
Marc Mohan-Oregonian

Byzantium is a connoisseur's vampire film; a vintage red.
Dave Golder-SFX Magazine

Jordan's customarily stylish and elegant direction carries the film, and he's aided by the leads' outstanding performances...
Aaron Yap-Flicks.co.nz

With its share of haunting imagery, it's sporadically unsettling but never truly frightening.
Todd Jorgenson-Cinemalogue.com

New vampire movie lacks bite
Robert Denerstein-Movie Habit

This extremely elegant fantasy has roots in a plausible situation: maybe vampires don't exist, but there has been a child or two raised by a wolf...how do such children get their experience into words, get past the shame? Who will believe them?
Richard von Busack-MetroActive

With a magnetic performance from Saoirse Ronan, a surprisingly excellent performance from Gemma Arterton, and a deliciously peculiar spin on familiar lore, Byzantium is a refreshing take on vampires.
Chris Sawin-Examiner.com

Jordan, true to form, moves fluidly between past and present toward an archly frenetic finale.
Sean Means-Salt Lake Tribune

Byzantium offers a twist or two on the traditional vampire mythology ... but otherwise [its] gothic atmosphere and air of tragedy feel awfully familiar.
Noel Murray-The Dissolve

A vampire-hybrid movie: moody and compelling with terrific performances from Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan.
Clint O'Connor-Cleveland Plain Dealer

The film doesn't offer the terror of some vampire stories or the swooning romance of others, but does provide a supernaturally tinged vampire tale for grown-ups.

Watch Corpo Celeste Movie with Full HD Format

Having recently returned to her native Italy after living in Switzerland for 10 years, quiet but curious 13-year-old Marta is left to her own devices while her loving but worn-out mother toils away at an industrial bakery. Marta's only source of socialization is the local church, where she is told to attend preparatory classes for her confirmation. But the doctrines of Roman Catholicism offer little in terms of life lessons or consolation, and she quickly sees through the hypocrisy of the priest, who cares more about status than about his constituents. Eventually, Marta forges her very own way of the cross, which turns out to have much less to do with God than with her own climb towards adulthood. -- (C) Film Movement

Corpo

Review For Corpo Celeste

For those willing to overlook its few slips into heavy-handedness, "Corpo Celeste" tells a compelling story of a 12-year-old girl thrust into a strange new world.
Walter V. Addiego-San Francisco Chronicle

"Corpo Celeste" often stumbles, along with its 12-year-old heroine, Marta (Yle Vianello).
Rachel Saltz-New York Times

Alice Rohrwacher's debut fictional feature is an uncommonly insightful portrait of nascent womanhood, assisted in no small measure by Vianello's disarmingly naturalistic performance.
Eric Hynes-Time Out New York

Corpo Celeste would be a treat in any season, but it's particularly refreshing amid the summer-movie bombast.
Mark Holcomb-Village Voice

Vianello gives a lovely, unforced performance as Marta, who begins to see that the blue-eyed, open-armed fuzzy Jesus she's being sold is a fake.
Cath Clarke-Time Out

Minor tonal inconsistencies are overcome by this intimate tale's naturalistic thesping and loose lensing style.
Boyd van Hoeij-Variety

Though at times heavy-handed in its imagery and slow-paced, Rohrwacher's debut feature is remarkably unadorned and touching, putting forth a realistic portrait of modern Italy at a time when the country faces economic hardship as well as cultural changes.
Meredith Slifkin-Film Comment Magazine

A heavenly coming-of-age film.
Dennis Schwartz-Ozus' World Movie Reviews

There are moments that suggest the director might do something better next time.
Philip French-Observer [UK]

An accomplished debut.
Peter Bradshaw-Guardian [UK]

Neither lights a fuse to our brains or hearts.
Nigel Andrews-Financial Times

Quietly compelling, the cerebral slice of social realism is well worth hunting down.
David Parkinson-Empire Magazine

The film makes neat if familiar associations between Catholic ritual and sexual identity, and between religion and civic corruption.
Hannah McGill-The List

Corpo Celeste's acute sense of place, feel for adolescent confusion and miraculous resolution suggest that Rohrwacher is a talent to watch.
Tom Dawson-Total Film

Rich, heady filmmaking that employs small strokes on a huge canvas.
Sherwyn Spencer-Little White Lies

Alice Rohrwacher's debut feature exhibits the sort of mannerisms a certain stripe of cinephile tends to dread, on or off the festival circuit.
Jaime N. Christley-Slant Magazine

Grittily real but somehow dreamlike at the same time, coming of age tale Corpo Celeste is a quietly impressive feature debut for documentary maker Alice Rohrwacher.
Lee Marshall-Screen International

Before

Review For Before Midnight

Hawke and Delpy remain as charming as ever, and their combined goofiness is more endearing than annoying.
Dave Calhoun-Time Out

Love is messy here, life cannot be controlled, satisfaction is far from guaranteed. Romance is rocky at best. But romance still is.
Tom Long-Detroit News

Though "Before Midnight" is often uncomfortable to watch, it's never less than mesmerizing - and ultimately, a joy to walk with this prickly but fascinating couple again.
Moira MacDonald-Seattle Times

"Before Midnight" is heartbreaking, but not because of Jesse and Celine. It's the filmmakers' passions that seem to have cooled.
Rafer Guzman-Newsday

Before Midnight is fascinating to watch, and so long as Celine and Jesse are communicating, there's still hope.
Mick LaSalle-Hearst Newspapers

How (Jesse and Celine) try to rekindle that flame is what drives Midnight, a film that feels so authentic it's like overhearing a conversation you're not sure you should be hearing.
Cary Darling-Dallas Morning News

The movie's funny at times and difficult at others, and ends absolutely perfectly. The best of the three.
Stephen Silver-EntertainmentTell

Delpy and Hawke talk and talk and talk but it is all fascinating.
Jackie K. Cooper-jackiekcooper.com

An excellent statement (and warning) about the dangers of being in love with love.
Felix Vasquez Jr.-Cinema Crazed

Hawke and Delpy emerge multi-dimensional and riddled with flaws. In a long-term relationship, you may think you know what the other is thinking, but do you ever really know?
Thelma Adams-Yahoo! Movies

Like the other two, this is a film that breathes. It just holds on a little more before it's willing to exhale.
Stuart Klawans-The Nation

Like the Up series, a return to visit old friends
Marty Mapes-Movie Habit

Making a movie with nothing more than smart dialogue and fine performances is a dying art, but Linklater, Hawke and Delpy remind us that it's a skill worth saving.
Forrest Hartman-Reno Gazette-Journal

Before Midnight feels like the natural extension of the series, and will be everything fans of it could have hoped for.
Travis Hopson-Examiner.com

The trouble with those first two film was their souffle-light scenarios...Here, however, things are much juicier as infidelity, commitment, divorce, resentment and all the other soul-sapping things that clock in when you hit your 40s come into play.
Jim Schembri-3AW

...in the surprising third act, the film comes together as a plausible horror show of how good intentions and real affection can give way to vicious, realistic psychic combat. (
Philip Martin-Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

...Before Midnight bears too few similarities to its thoroughly superior predecessors.
David Nusair-Reel Film Reviews

The reason this film will hold your attention for two hours is because of the natural dialogue between Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.
Matthew Toomey-ABC Radio Brisbane

Before Midnight is like an old friend who has grown sharper and grumpier and saltier with life; and for students of cinema, the film is a masterclass in the use of the language and tools of this amazing artform to portray human nature
Andrew L. Urban-Urban Cinefile

The beauty of this film - like the two before - is its natural flow of conversation and ability to engage and transport us into the moment
Louise Keller-Urban Cinefile

The release of each sequel is becoming an event, so it's particularly great to see Before Midnight not only meeting expectations but raising the bar.
Rima Sabina Aouf-Concrete Playground

It's a brave, challenging and essential installment in what is one of modern cinema's finest trilogies.
Cara Nash-FILMINK (Australia)

The beauty of this film - like the two before - is its natural flow of conversation and ability to engage and transport us into the moment
Urban Cinefile Critics-Urban Cinefile

Before Midnight is no romance. It's a horror movie.
Jay Antani-Cinema Writer

Takes its traditional romantic tale into more insightful territories.
Liam Maguren-Flicks.co.nz

Hawk and Delpy know just how to get under your skin. Their onscreen alter egos fit like a glove, and witnessing their ageing, nagging, toying love is a true privilege.
